Greetings! This is an original photograph, taken of a Kokopelli moving through the “rocks” in front of the Moab Visitor Center. Legend has it that Kokopelli, the fluteplayer, is a fertility deity venerated by many Native American cultures in the Southwestern United States. Some also believe that he represents a “trickster!” I’ve been up and down many red-rock canyons and have seen many depictions of Kokopelli (quite similar in spite of great distances between rock art panels). Time to travel back in time and connect with the indigenous peoples who crafted this very special being and find out!
