As you can tell, it was mid-winter; blustery day (my favorite, since the heat of the summer is much too much for me to bear sometimes – yep, wimp!) According to the National Park Service website, “The Island in the Sky mesa rests on sheer sandstone cliffs over 1,000 feet (304 m) above the surrounding terrain. Every overlook offers a different perspective on Canyonlands' spectacular landscape.” That is definitely true! And this winding dirt road drops off into the canyon landscape – drawing visitors into the heart of the landscape.
